Our 25th Wedding Anniversary

On our actual anniversary, we were in Copper Center, Alaska. We received a cell phone message from Erica that day saying she wanted to wish us a Happy Anniversary and that our getting married really meant a lot to her. Erica is the one who always makes a laugh.
When we got back from Alaska, the kids had told us they wanted to take us out to dinner to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversay. Joel flew home to be part of the celebration. We were told we were going to a fancy restaurant in Lawrence and to dress semi-formal. We took some pictures before we left for dinner. Joel said he wanted to take the back route to Lawrence, which is longer. Chuck was a little irritated but Joel said he wanted to see all the new development along 45th Street. As we drove along Westedge road, we were told we had to make a slight detour and pulled into a parking lot. We were then handed an invitation to our surprise anniversary party.
We had told the kids we did not want a big party but they apparently still felt something needed to be done. They rented one of the shelters at Lake Shawnee and invited 25 close friends for a formal sit-down dinner. Andrea & Erica made a salad, baked pasta and bread. The boys helped set up the event. Every table had white table cloths, candles, a vase of roses and an ice bucket with a bottle of wine. They even recreated our wedding cake, made punch and strung twinkle lights all over the hall. I was too busy socializing and opening some of our wonderful gifts to take many pictures. I hope to get some more pictures from Mom to add to the blog. I also wish we had taken at least one picture that included everyone there.
It was truly a lovely evening that Chuck and I both enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and especially to Andrea, Erica, Joel and Mom.
