An old wreath hanging over our back sliding glass door. A purple finch couple decided it would be the perfect place to build a nest and start a family.
Though the nest is really behind the wreath, Chuck was able to stick the camera over the edge of the wreath and take a picture of the contents. We were afraid the eggs would be destroyed when the temperature dipped down to 12 degrees last week.
Today, I stood on a table and took this picture. It looks like our babies have arrived and survived. At least for now....
Howard patiently waiting on the deck below the wreath for a cat-snack to fall from the sky. With only three legs, it is his only chance to ever catch a bird. We will have to keep a close eye on both Howard and
Sox to prevent any tragedies. As the babies grow, the cats will probably have to be banned from the deck--their favorite place to lounge away the day.
