On our visit to my sister, we made a side trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas.
Fossil drive offers a 9.5 mile wildlife drive through a scenic preserve. You can
choose a guided tour or a self-guided tour. We chose to go it alone.
You can get up close and personal with the animals.
At the Admissions Center, you can purchase feed ($8 for a large bag) for
the animals which you can throw on the ground for the animals.
Get ready for some great animal photo opportunities.

Many of the animals came right up to the car to welcome us and beg for food.
Though you are supposed to throw the food on the ground, we observed many
individuals hand feeding the animals.

Fossil Rim is located in a very pretty area and you go up some fairly steep terrain.

He looks just a little embarrassed to have been caught taking
a mud bath.
Giraffes seem so gentle.
Some of the animals are quite aggressive and will stick their inside your car looking for food.

We spent so much time feeding deer and antelope at the beginning of our drive that we didn't leave enough time to really view the cheetahs. Employees of the park began following our vehicle about five, pushing us out.
We really enjoyed our visit. My only advice is to arrive early. We thought an hour and half would be plenty of time to see the park but would have enjoyed another hour. I would suggest planning for a 2-3 hour visit and since they close at 5pm, you should arrive no later than 2pm in order to see all the animals without rushing.
