As most of you know, Joel has been volunteering his time at the Watchtower Educational Center in Patterson, New York since January 2006. The Watchtower Educational Center is an extension of the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses located in Brooklyn, New York. The Educational Center is a 28 building complex primarily designed to promote Global Bible Education and to train missionaries. Besides housing the school facilities (the missionary program, Gilead, is an accredited college), the complex also houses the art department, legal department, audio/video services, translation services along with support departments such as Joel's. Around 1200 people live and work at the complex, all as volunteers. There are currently about 7 million Jehovah's Witnesses in 230 different lands worldwide. (This number only includes baptized, active members. Actual meeting attendance would be much greater.) Bible literature is currently being printed in 310 different languages and about 300,000 new members are baptized each year. We are very proud of Joel and his willingness to make sacrifices to help others.
