Our tour bus picked us up at Savage River campground around 7am. We traveled 66 miles into the interior of the park with frequent stops for wildlife viewing. It is not uncommon to see several buses pulled to both sides, with several people hanging out the windows taking pictures of a single caribou or ground squirrel. The tour took about 8 hours. Our tour guide gave a running commentary on landmarks, history and animals.
