Fairbanks camping

We camped on a float plane lake in Fairbanks.

We took a walk that night to the other side of the lake. Most nights it did not get dark until around 10:30pm though they were already losing 12 minutes of daylight each day.

Chuck checks out a plane.

Our camper across the lake on the left. Chuck was very happy. Campfires and planes!

Fairbanks is the one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis. I got up about every hour through the night and looked outside for Northern Lights. It was cloudy and the most we saw was a red glow behind some clouds. Fairbanks experiences Northern Lights every night of the year, however in the summer it's too light too see them. It was still a little early in the season (best time to view is late September through early April) to see the Northern Lights though we talked to other campers who said they had already seen them.
